Ozark is Netflix’s new dark and cold crime drama centered in money laundering. Marty Byrde (Jason Bateman) who is a regular financial advisor who has problems with his family, especially his wife, Wendy (Laura Linney). While they have problems in their life, Marty finds out that his wife is cheating. However suddenly this becomes his secondary problem as he finds himself at the edge of trigger of a Mexican drug lord due to relations of his best friend. He somehow convinces the drug lord to employ him as his money launderer and he promises to return and launder half a billion dollars in two weeks in the county of Ozark and his story begins. After an immediate packing he moves to Ozarks with his family leaving everything behind. Rest of story is centered on his efforts of record-fast money laundering to keep his family safe.
Created by Bill Dubuque, Ozark seems to be new Breaking Bad with a similar story of an innocent smart man becomes high end criminal due to unfortunate situations mainly protecting their family. First a few episodes moves very fast and the main story starts in the Ozarks area which gives the name of the series. My view is Ozark has a moving story, you would enjoy it however I felt that it has a limited number of people and a single storyline that you may get bored at some point. I, myself, stopped at Ozark’s 8th episode, of course I will continue however it would probably take some time.
If you liked breaking bad, you may give a try to Ozark. Please let me know how you liked it. Please see Ozark Subtitles here.
